Our Laneway Festival 2027 lineup predictions are here, and if it goes the way we want, this could be one of the best editions of the festival yet!

With Laneway Festival returning in February 2027, speculation is already building around which huge international artists could make their way to Australia and New Zealand.

The 2027 festival will take place across four dates: Sydney on February 12, Brisbane on February 13, Melbourne on February 19 and Auckland on February 21. Adelaide and Perth are taking a break from the festival in 2027. The official Laneway lineup is expected to be revealed in late September.

Until the official announcement drops, we've put together our Laneway Festival 2027 predictions, featuring some of the biggest names we'd love to see on the lineup.

Disclaimer: These are predictions and wishlist picks, not confirmed Laneway Festival 2027 artists. The official lineup has not yet been announced.

Tame Impala

Tame Impala is our number one pick for a Laneway Festival 2027 headliner.

Kevin Parker's psychedelic project feels like an almost perfect fit for Laneway, and the timing makes this prediction particularly interesting.

Tame Impala is currently scheduled to return to Australia for the Deadbeat AUS Tour in October 2026, including shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

While that means a Laneway appearance would come relatively soon after his Australian tour, we wouldn't completely rule it out. Tame Impala has a long history with Laneway Presents, and the festival's 2027 dates could provide another opportunity for Kevin Parker to appear in a festival setting.

If Laneway is looking for a massive Australian headliner capable of pulling in crowds across multiple cities, Tame Impala would be one of our strongest predictions.

Prediction: Very likely

Mac DeMarco

Mac DeMarco is another name we could easily see appearing on the Laneway Festival 2027 lineup.

Mac DeMarco has long been associated with the Australian festival circuit, but his last major Australian tour was in January 2020. His 2020 run included Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

That makes a return to Australia particularly overdue, and his laid-back indie sound would fit perfectly into the Laneway atmosphere.

A Mac DeMarco Laneway appearance would also give fans the opportunity to see him perform alongside a younger generation of alternative and indie artists.

Prediction: Likely

Adela

Adela is another interesting name to keep an eye on when discussing Laneway Festival 2027 lineup predictions.

The artist has been generating plenty of attention among fans looking towards the next wave of alternative and indie talent, making Adela the kind of emerging act that could fit naturally into a Laneway lineup.

Laneway has always had a reputation for mixing established international names with artists who are on the verge of breaking through, so Adela would make sense as one of our wildcard picks.

Prediction: Possible

Halsey

Could Halsey make their way to Australia for Laneway Festival 2027?

Halsey would certainly be one of the biggest names on our prediction list. With a catalogue that spans alternative pop, rock and darker electronic influences, the artist could bring a slightly different flavour to the festival.

The biggest question is whether Laneway would target an artist of Halsey's size for the 2027 lineup. If the festival is looking to make a major international statement, however, Halsey would certainly do it.

Prediction: Possible

Bella Kay

Bella Kay is another emerging name we'd love to see considered for the Laneway Festival 2027 lineup.

One of the things that makes Laneway so exciting is its ability to introduce festivalgoers to artists who may not yet be household names. That makes emerging artists like Bella Kay particularly interesting predictions.

If Laneway continues its tradition of balancing major headliners with exciting new talent, don't be surprised if there are a few names like this on the final lineup.

Prediction: Possible

Hayley Williams

This might be one of our more ambitious predictions, but imagine Hayley Williams at Laneway Festival 2027.

While Williams is best known as the frontwoman of Paramore, her solo material opens the door to a different kind of festival performance. Her alternative and experimental influences could make for a seriously memorable Laneway set.

Of course, this is firmly in the wishlist category for now, but if you're looking for a big-name wildcard, Hayley Williams is certainly one to consider.

Prediction: Wildcard

Steve Lacy

Steve Lacy feels like one of those artists who could absolutely thrive at Laneway.

The Grammy-winning musician has become one of the defining names in modern alternative R&B, blending indie, funk, soul and pop into a sound that fits comfortably alongside the kind of artists Laneway has historically championed.

A Steve Lacy appearance would also add a different musical dimension to the festival, making him one of our more exciting international predictions.

Prediction: Possible

Holly Humberstone

Holly Humberstone is another artist we'd love to see on the Laneway Festival 2027 lineup.

Her emotional indie-pop songwriting and atmospheric live sound make her a natural fit for the festival. She also has the kind of growing international profile that makes her feel like a realistic Laneway booking rather than simply a wishlist addition.

If you're looking for an artist who could deliver one of those early-afternoon sets that becomes a festival highlight, Holly Humberstone would be a strong choice.

Prediction: Likely

Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Bridgers is perhaps one of the biggest wishlist names on our Laneway Festival 2027 predictions list.

Bridgers has already built a huge following in Australia, and her blend of indie rock, folk and alternative songwriting would fit the Laneway audience perfectly.

There is also evidence of Australian interest in a future Phoebe Bridgers visit, with Ticketek currently listing a Phoebe Bridgers Australia waitlist, although this does not confirm a Laneway appearance.

If Bridgers were to return to Australia around the festival period, she would be an extremely exciting potential booking.

Prediction: Possible

Fontaines D.C.

Fontaines D.C. would be another fantastic addition to Laneway Festival 2027.

The Irish post-punk group has become one of the biggest names in modern alternative rock, and their darker, guitar-driven sound could provide a welcome contrast to the festival's pop and electronic acts.

A Fontaines D.C. set would also have serious potential to become one of the loudest and most energetic performances of the weekend.

Prediction: Likely

Lola Young

Lola Young is one of our favourite predictions for the 2027 Laneway lineup.

Her combination of alternative pop, soul and rock has helped establish her as one of the most exciting artists in the current music landscape. Her raw songwriting and distinctive voice also feel perfectly suited to a festival audience.

With Laneway's reputation for finding artists at the right moment in their careers, Lola Young feels like a particularly strong fit.

Prediction: Likely

Ninajirachi

We're also predicting Ninajirachi as a possible Laneway Festival 2027 inclusion.

This one is particularly interesting because Ninajirachi is already touring with Tame Impala on the 2026 Deadbeat AUS Tour. Frontier Touring lists her as the special guest for Tame Impala's Australian shows.

Given her growing profile in Australian electronic music, a Laneway appearance would make plenty of sense.

Could she even appear alongside Tame Impala again? That's a possibility we'd definitely have our eye on.

Prediction: Likely
