Busted is a British pop-punk band formed in 2000, originally consisting of James Bourne, Matt Willis, and Charlie Simpson. They gained widespread fame in the early 2000s with their energetic blend of pop-rock and punk influences, producing hits like Year 3000, What I Go to School For, and Crashed the Wedding. Their debut self-titled album (2002) and follow-up A Present for Everyone (2003) were massive successes in the UK, earning them multiple BRIT Awards. However, in 2005, Charlie Simpson left the band to pursue his rock-oriented project, Fightstar, leading to Busted’s breakup.
After a decade apart, Busted reunited in 2015 (without Simpson initially, but he rejoined in 2016), releasing their comeback album Night Driver (2016) with a more synth-pop sound. They followed up with Half Way There (2019), which returned to their classic pop-punk style. In 2023, they celebrated their 20th anniversary with a greatest hits tour and re-recorded versions of their biggest songs featuring artists like McFly and Simple Plan. Known for their high-energy performances and nostalgic appeal, Busted remains one of the UK’s most beloved pop-rock bands, continuing to tour and release music while maintaining their influence on the British music scene.
