K-pop phenom NCT 127 is an offshoot of the original boy band NCT, an acronym for Neo Culture Technology. The ‘127’ stands for the longitudinal coordinate of Seoul, Korea. Founded in 2016, the 10-member musical collective — Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jungwoo, Mark, Haechan — scored early success with the EP NCT #127, which rose to No. 2 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. NCT 127 Background

NCT 127’s fame rose in 2017 when both Billboard and the industry blog Idolator included the title cut off the group’s EP Cherry Bomb among the K-pop songs of the year. Their full-length debut came in the form of 2018’s Regular-Irregular, which climbed to No. 86 on the Billboard 200.
