BECK AUSTRALIAN TOUR TICKETS 2023

About

Beck is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He is known for a musical style that combines elements of hip hop, indie rock, folk, funk, soul, and psychedelia. He has released thirteen studio albums, over 130 singles, and numerous collaborations.

Beck was born in Los Angeles and grew up in a family of musicians, including his father, David Campbell, who is a professional arranger, conductor, and composer. Beck began playing guitar and writing songs at an early age and formed his first band at thirteen. His early influences included blues musicians such as Leadbelly and Mississippi John Hurt, as well as punk and rap acts like the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy.

Beck released his debut album, Golden Feelings, in 1993. He followed this up with the critically acclaimed album, Mellow Gold, in 1994, which included the hit single, "Loser." The success of this album established Beck as a prominent figure in alternative music.

In 1996, Beck released Odelay, which featured a blend of styles and earned him two Grammy Awards. He followed this up with Midnite Vultures (1999), Sea Change (2002), and Guero (2005), all of which were commercially and critically successful. He has since released a number of albums and singles, including four albums in a row that have all achieved number one on the U.S. Billboard 200.  Beck has also collaborated with a number of artists, including Jack White, Danger Mouse, and the Flaming Lips. He has won many awards, including six Grammys, and is widely considered one of the most influential and important artists of his generation.

Tour

Beck has toured Australia numerous times over the past two decades. His first tour of Australia was in 1995, when he visited to promote his critically acclaimed album, Odelay. Since then, Beck has toured Australia several times, most recently in 2016. During his 2016 tour, he performed shows in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth, as well as headlining a number of festivals. His shows are known for their mix of classic hits and more recent material, as well as unique covers of other artists' songs.

Beck has announced his first Australian headline show in five years. The calfornian musician will perform at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Monday, 3rd April, 2023.

Billed as an intimate, acoustic show, he’ll be playing tracks from his most recent record, 2019’s Hyperspace, as well as favourites from albums like Odelay, Modern Guilt, Morning Phase, and a bunch of deep cuts and B-sides. It’s Beck as “we’d never seen him before”, according to a review of the show in Austin, Texas earlier this year, featured in the Austin Chronicle.

Beck was last in Australia for the one-off festival Sydney City Limits, which happened in February 2018. His 2023 Australian tour will coincide with the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Golden Feelings. Though, good luck finding a copy – the album was originally a cassette-only release before being reissued on CD, without Beck’s permission, in 1999. Only 2000 CDs were distributed before the label pulled the pin.

Beck will be in Australia for the 2023 Bluesfest festival – the first time he’s appeared at the festival!
