Who is Bon Iver?

Bon Iver is an American indie folk band founded in 2006 by singer-songwriter Justin Vernon. The name "Bon Iver" derives from the French phrase bon hiver meaning "good winter". Bon Iver's other band members include:

• Matthew McCaughan, Drummer
• Michael Lewis, Bassist
• Andrew Fitzpatrick, Guitarist

Vernon is joined by these four members whenever he performs live on stage. Together, the five members put on a captivating performance, wowing their fans every single time.

Bon Iver has collaborated with some of the music industry’s most notorious names, including Taylor Swift, Kanye West, James Blake, and more.

Vernon released Bon Iver's debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago, independently in July 2007. The majority of that album was recorded while Vernon spent three months isolated in a cabin in northwestern Wisconsin. The band later won in 2012 the Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album for their album Bon Iver, Bon Iver. They released their third album 22, A Million to critical acclaim in 2016. Since then, Bon Iver released another album titled i,i which was well-received by their fanbase.

How to Pronounce Bon Iver

While Bon Iver is an incredibly popular band, many people aren’t actually sure of how to correctly pronounce their name. The correct pronunciation is as follows:

"Bon" is pronounced like the French word "bon," meaning "good." It sounds like "bawn" with a soft "n" sound.

"Iver" is pronounced as "ee-vur." The "i" sounds like the letter "e" in "be," and the "ver" rhymes with "fur" or "her."

So, when said together, it sounds like "Bawn EE-vur." Remember to stress the first syllable "Bawn" slightly more than the second "EE-vur."

When is Bon Iver Touring Australia?

There was recently a Bon Iver Australia tour in February and March of 2023. The band travelled all over the country to states including Sydney, Hobart, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. Since the band recently embarked on an international tour, it is unlikely that they will plan another worldwide tour for some time.

Loyal fans cannot wait for the next show, however, and are hoping that there will be a Bon Iver 2024 tour. We can only hope they’ll be so eager to hit the road again soon!
