In 1996, Norman Quentin Cook adopted the name Fatboy Slim and released Better Living Through Chemistry to critical acclaim. Follow-up albums You've Come a Long Way, Baby, Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars, and Palookaville, as well as singles such as "The Rockafeller Skank", "Praise You", "Right Here, Right Now", "Weapon of Choice", and "Wonderful Night", achieved commercial and critical success. 

His style of music is a mix of big beat and breakbeat, blending elements of electro, soul, funk, and rap. He has been a major influence in the British dance music scene since the 1990s. Cook holds the Guinness World Record for most top-40 hits under different names. As a solo act, he has won nine MTV Video Music Awards and two Brit Awards. Cook adopted a quasi-blues-style pseudonym Fatboy Slim in 1996. Cook said of the name: "It doesn't mean anything. I've told so many different lies over the years about it I can't actually remember the truth. It's just an oxymoron—a word that can't exist. It kind of suits me—it's kind of goofy and ironic."

Tour

Fatboy Slim has toured in Australia several times. His first tour was in 2001, followed by a tour in 2003. He returned in 2009 for a show at the Splendour in the Grass Festival. In 2019, he headlined the Stereosonic Festival in Sydney and Melbourne. He has also performed at the Good Vibrations Festival in 2011 and the Big Day Out Festival in 2010. His upcoming tour, 'Y'all are the music, we're just the DJs' arrives in Australia in 2023 and will see Fatboy Slim perform in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
