About

The Sugababes are an English girl group formed in 1998 by Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan. They were one of the UK’s most successful girl groups of all time, with over 20 top ten singles and six platinum-selling albums.

Their music career began in 2000 with the release of their debut single, “Overload”, which reached number 6 on the UK Singles Chart. This was followed by their debut album, One Touch, which peaked at number 6 in the UK Albums Chart and was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). The album included the top 10 singles “Run for Cover” and “Soul Sound”, and the top 20 single “New Year”.

The group’s second album, Angels with Dirty Faces, was released in 2002 and was even more successful than their debut, reaching number 3 in the UK Albums Chart and being certified double-platinum by the BPI. It spawned four top 10 singles, “Freak Like Me”, “Round Round”, “Stronger” and “Shape”. In 2003, the group released their third album, Three, which reached number 1 in the UK Albums Chart and was certified triple-platinum by the BPI. It included four top 10 singles: “Hole in the Head”, “Too Lost in You”, “In the Middle” and “Caught in a Moment”.

Their fourth album, Taller in More Ways, was released in 2005 and reached number 2 in the UK Albums Chart. It was certified double-platinum by the BPI and included the top 10 singles “Push the Button” and “Ugly”. The group’s fifth album, Change, was released in 2007 and reached number 9 in the UK Albums Chart. It was certified gold by the BPI and included the top 10 singles “About You Now” and “Girls”.  In 2009, the Sugababes released their sixth and final album, Sweet 7, which reached number 4 in the UK Albums Chart and was certified gold by the BPI. It included the top 10 singles “Get Sexy”, “About a Girl” and “Wear My Kiss”.

The group previously disbanded in 2011, but their legacy lives on in the form of their chart success and the influence they had on the British music scene, which eventually motivated them to reunite and create new music.
