All You Need To Know About MLB London Series

The MLB London Series brings select regular season Major League Baseball (MLB) games to London Stadium in London, England. Initially set for 2019 and 2020 and sponsored by Mitel, branded as Mitel & MLB Present London Series, it marked the first-ever MLB contests in Europe. The 2019 games hosted the Boston Red Sox against the New York Yankees. Unfortunately, the 2020 games between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, MLB and Greater London renewed the arrangement for games in 2023, 2024, and 2026, now named the MLB World Tour: London Series starting from the 2023 season, aligning with the broader "MLB World Tour" for games outside the U.S. and Canada.

On May 8, 2018, MLB revealed a two-year deal for baseball games at London Stadium in the 2019 and 2020 seasons, starting with a series between the Red Sox and Yankees. MLB, known for international games in various countries, had never played in Europe. Kelhem Salter, MLB's director for EMEA growth, highlighted London as a "key growth market" and initiated a cultural program, "The 108," to connect with new fans. On May 9, 2022, a long-term partnership was announced between MLB and London, featuring regular-season games in 2023, 2024, and 2026, alongside major events over the next five years.

MLB London Series Legacy

Rest assured, as the London Series concludes and before the next World Baseball Classic cycle kicks off, there's an abundance of baseball awaiting every fan across the country. The newly established MLB London Series Legacy Programme ensures increased opportunities for participation and play for all interested individuals.

In collaboration with the Mayor's Greater London Authority and Britain's baseball governing bodies - the British Baseball Federation, British Softball Federation, and Baseball Softball UK - MLB is spearheading a variety of initiatives. These efforts aim to expand baseball's reach by introducing the sport to more people and diverse locations. Enhanced cooperation and funding will facilitate access to playing opportunities for numerous children and youth through innovative outreach and school programs.

Moreover, the Legacy Programme focuses on enhancing club and community networks, refining elite player development pathways, and offering specific support to enhance baseball and softball facilities. With a growing number of players, fans, officials, and volunteers, this initiative aims to promote physical and mental well-being, engage youth in underserved communities nationwide, and establish a more resilient and inclusive baseball system for the entire country.
