The British & Irish Lions is arguably one of the greatest rugby tours in the world and, in 2025, the best players from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will converge on Australia.

In total, there will be nine matches taking place in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Canberra and Adelaide.

The 2017 Lions Tour of New Zealand saw one of the most exciting tours ever with so many unforgettable moments. These included Sean O’Brien’s try – arguably one of the best in Lions’ history; and Owen Farrell’s 77th-minute winning penalty in Wellington, which brought the All Blacks’ 47-match home winning streak to an end.

When Did the British & Irish Lions Last Tour Australia?

It’s been more than a decade since the British & Irish Lions toured Australia back in 2013. During this tour, they won all but one of their non-test matches - these were the matches not played against the Wallabies.

Of the three test matches played against Australia’s Wallabies, the Lions won two. It was their first series win since 1997 - and their first win over Australia since 1989.

Where are the Lions Playing in Australia in 2025?

The Lions will be playing in the main cities of all states and territories except for Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

They’ll be playing one match each in WA, ACT, and South Australia; and two matches each in Queensland, NSW, and Victoria - it’s in these three states where the test matches against the Wallabies will take place.

Who is the Coach of the 2025 British & Irish Lions Tour?

For their 2025 tour, the British & Irish Lions will be playing at the behest of newly announced coach Andy Farrel, a former rugby union and rugby league player who is also the current coach of the Irish national rugby union team.

Andy Farrel is taking over from Warren Gatland, who was coach for the Lions between 2013 and 2021.
