This rugby competition is an enthralling and electrifying professional Men’s Rugby Union international club competition. It involves teams from Argentina, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The Hurricanes, Crusaders, Blues, Chiefs and Highlanders take on each other throughout June to August during the 2020 Investec Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Originally, the Super Rugby started off as the Super 12 in 1996 as it had 12 teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Then in 2006, the competition was renamed to Super 14 because of the addition of 2 more teams. Finally, the competition was renamed again to Super Rugby (without a number). This competition is regarded as one of the fiercest and toughest because the top players from 16 of the top 24 top 3 finishes in the history of The Rugby World Cup represent the competition.

The competition has been ruled by New Zealand teams, that have won a total of 17 times in 24 years. The most recent title belongs to The Crusaders, who have the most number of titles (10). For 5 years the competition was played, a south pacific championship called the Super Six which led to an expansion when South Africa re-entered the rugby world. In 2016 the competition evolved into a 4 conference (18 team) tournament. The entire competition encompasses 35 regular season matches played across 17 rounds. Then, After the regular season an eight-team, three-week, seven-match finals series determined the overall winner.
