Boygenius is the brainchild of three of indie and folk music’s most notable contemporary artists: Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus. All are renowned for the indelible marks they’ve made in the indie rock and folk music scenes over the last 10 to 17 years.

They formed the group to counter a common issue they identified within the music industry, where female artists are often pitted against one another. With mutual respect for each other's work and the desire to collaborate, they officially formed boygenius in 2018.

The name of the band is a tongue-in-cheek statement on the stereotypical young male genius archetype often represented across various forms of media. The band’s members intended the name to be both a comment on and subversion of the traditional gender dynamics within the music industry.

Since their formation, they’ve released two EPs and one full-length album. Their first release was the eponymous EP, “boygenius”, in 2018. This was followed by their first album, “The Record”, in March 2023. In October 2023, they released their second EP “The Rest”, a short-but-sweet 4-track work.

All three of their major works have received near-universal critical acclaim, cementing their standing as one of the best indie folk groups performing today.

How Much Are Tickets to See boygenius Live?

The exact cost to see boygenius live is not 100% known, but some averages can be assumed based on historical data. Other factors include venue size, related operational and logistical costs, marketing, seating, and the possibility of dynamic prices on initial tickets.

Again, while the exact runtime cannot be set in stone until official dates are announced, previous tours that were based on their “boygenius” EP and “The Record” album have typically run for around 1 hour and 30 minutes. 

This runtime included almost all songs from the EP and album, along with each artist also performing a song from their solo projects.

Will boygenius Come to Australia in 2024 or 2025?

While all members of boygenius have previously toured Australia, the supergroup is still yet to make its first appearance in the country. That said, it is expected that boygenius will tour Australia either in the second half of 2024 or at some point in 2025.

The most recent album by boygenius, “The Record”, was released in March 2023. Earning widespread acclaim, with a weighted score of 90 out of 100 on Metacritic, the album received seven nominations at the 66th Grammy and went on to win three awards, including Best Alternative Music Album.
