2021 AFL Tickets: Here’s Your Guide To The Biggest Matches Coming This Season

Footy is back, and it’s back with a bang!

It’s been an electric start to the 2021 AFL season, and the good news is we’re only six rounds in!

On the eve of this year’s ANZAC Day Match, we’re bringing you a preview of some of the biggest games in this year’s footy calendar and how you can buy AFL tickets for each game.

With fans back in the terraces, we’ve been treated to an enthralling opening five rounds of footy that has featured upsets, goals galore, and some outrageous marks.

After finishing bottom of the league in 2020, Adelaide caused one of the biggest upsets in footy history to shock 2020 finalists Geelong in the opening round of the season. Sydney then followed their lead, turning the tide against the reigning Premiers, Richmond, and flag favourites Brisbane to shoot their way into the top four.

It’s safe to say the league is very much wide open this year, and with games coming thick and fast, there is even more action yet to come.

But as AFL tickets are in high demand, if you’re looking to secure some seats, you’ll need to plan ahead to avoid any disappointment. Here’s our guide on some of the biggest matches coming up this season and where you can buy your AFL tickets for each.

ANZAC Day AFL Tickets - Collingwood vs Essendon - 25 April 2021

The biggest game in the AFL’s calendar, outside of the Grand Final, is the ANZAC Day match between Collingwood and Essendon. And this year’s instalment is set to be a blockbuster.

Last year’s historic match was played out in front of an empty MCG, but this year’s instalment could host the largest crowd a sporting event has seen since the coronavirus pandemic started last year. There’s also a lot on the line for this one.

With both Collingwood and Essendon having nightmare starts to the season, we’re expecting both teams to be going hell for leather to secure four points from this match.

And as the Victorian Government continue to weigh up permissible crowd sizes, ANZAC Day Game tickets are hot property right now. Be sure to cop yours today via The Ticket Merchant.

The Western Derby AFL Tickets  - West Coast vs Fremantle - 2 May 2021

With some exciting new young faces in their side, the Dockers have announced themselves as a serious threat this year, while the Eagles have been slow to get their engine room going.

We’ll be watching on eagerly, with the Dockers looking to unleash young midfield talent Andrew Brayshaw on the West Coast, as Fremantle look to undo their ten-match losing streak to the Eagles in the Western Derby. Buy your Eagles vs Dockers AFL tickets here.

Grand Final Replay AFL Tickets - Geelong vs Richmond - 7 May 2021

Friday night lights at the G’ couldn’t get any better than this as Geelong head upstate to Melbourne to take on 2020 Grand Final rivals Richmond. With the Cat’s marquee signing Jeremy Cameron back from injury, ready to link up with goal machines Tom Hawkins and Patrick Dangerfield, we’re expecting a goal-fest in this one. Tickets are on sale now!

The Dreamtime At The G’ AFL Tickets - Richmond vs Essendon - 5 July 2021

The historic Dreamtime match will return to the MCG this year after the fixture was hosted in Darwin last season in what was a special moment in AFL history. The annual Sir Doug Nicolls round draws the largest attendances of any fixture in the AFL, and this year’s match could host its biggest. With the Melbourne footy faithful having been deprived of their beloved sport over the past year, we’re backing this to be a sell-out. Grab your seats before they’re gone!

The Battle of the Bridge AFL Tickets - GWS vs Sydney - 17 July 2021

Can the Giants do the double over the Swans in 2021? Having edged their rivals by just two points in round six, GWS will take the NSW rivalry back to the Giants stadium in round 18, where the Swans will undoubtedly be looking to get revenge.

As both teams are hot favourites to secure a spot in September’s finals, this fixture has the potential to be an eight-point game. For more information on GWS Giants vs Sydney Swans tickets, head over to The Ticket Merchant’s AFL Tickets portal

Finals AFL Tickets - September 2021

The 2021 AFL Finals are set to be like none we’ve seen before. With big sides struggling, underdogs arising, and teams still yet to find their form, it’s anyone’s guess who’ll make the top eight this year. But it’s set to be a cracker.

With capacity crowds expected, make sure to register your interest for tickets to this year’s AFL Finals Series as soon as possible.
