Who is BLACKPINK?

BLACKPINK is a South Korean girl group that made its debut in 2016. The group quickly gained international fame with their distinctive style, blending K-pop with global music influences. Hits like "Boombayah", "Kill This Love", and "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" showcase their powerful performances and unique music videos.

Their widespread appeal is evident in their multi-million record sales, massive online streaming numbers, and numerous awards. This is due to their balance between English and Korean throughout their songs, helping them to reach a wider fanbase and appeal to people worldwide.

BLACKPINK has broken several records, cementing their status as one of the leading K-pop groups globally. Besides music, their influence extends to fashion and global ambassadorships, making them significant cultural icons of their generation.

Who Are the Members in BLACKPINK?

The girl group BLACKPINK consists of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. Formed by YG Entertainment, these four women took over the world of K-Pop soon after their debut.

While they are a K-Pop group, not all of the members are from South Korea. In fact, Rosé was actually born in New Zealand and spent seven years of her childhood there, before moving to Melbourne in Australia in 2004 – one of the many reasons why Kiwis and Aussies love her!

Lisa also is one of the group members who is not Korean. Born in Thailand, Lisa did not move to South Korea until 2011, when she formally began training with YG Entertainment. This training lasted five years, and she made her debut with BLACKPINK shortly after.

Songs and Albums

“Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du” has been one of the most successful songs for BLACKPINK. Releasing it in mid-2018 with not just a song but also a video clip only days after the song’s debut, the four girls boomed up the charts!

If you compare this song or any of their latest to their original two-song debut EP, Square One, in 2016, you will notice a consistency in their music. Their original songs like "Boombayah" and "Whistle" had a distinctive K-trap sound to them, making them stand out against competitors. In fact, BLACKPINK made history as the highest-charting K-Pop girl group on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart.

In their current Born Pink World Tour, BLACKPINK is performing popular songs from their latest album, “BORN PINK”, as well as other iconic hits from throughout the years.

What to Wear to a BLACKPINK Concert

Attending a BLACKPINK concert is not just about enjoying the music, but also being a of the ‘blink army’ (BLACKPINK’s fandom name). If you’re headed to the BLACKPINK world tour, rocking their merchandise is one of the easiest ways to show your support for the iconic girl group. If you don’t already own BLACKPINK merch, you can always pick up some at the venue either before or after the concert.

Alternatively, you can never go wrong with wearing black and pink – and this way you won’t need to buy merchandise. However, the most important thing when attending the BLACKPINK Australia tour is that you are comfortable and feel your best.

How Long Are BLACKPINK Concerts?

BLACKPINK concerts, like most major K-Pop concerts, typically last between two to three hours. The length can vary based on several factors: the setlist, if there is an opening act, any special stages or interactions, encores, and whether it's a standalone concert or part of a music festival.

Besides performing their hit songs, BLACKPINK concerts often feature solo stages for each member, VCRs (video content played on screens), and interactive segments where the members talk to the audience. While the main set might be about two hours, adding in the encores, interactions, and potential special performances can extend the duration. If you're attending a BLACKPINK concert, it's a good idea to plan for at least two and a half hours, but it's always best to check the specific details for the event you're attending.

Are Blackpink Concerts Worth It?

Whether or not BLACKPINK concert tickets are "worth it" is subjective and depends on individual preferences and music taste. However, many fans and concert-goers attest to the group's captivating stage presence, high-energy performances, and impressive production quality. BLACKPINK concerts often feature a mix of their hit songs, solo stages, intricate choreography, and state-of-the-art visuals and stage effects.

Additionally, the chance to be part of a passionate fan community – singing and cheering together – adds to the overall experience. For dedicated Blinks and K-pop enthusiasts, attending a BLACKPINK concert can be a memorable and exhilarating experience. However, as with any concert or event, potential attendees should consider factors like ticket prices, travel expenses, and personal interest when deciding.
