Formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Nickelback is a Canadian rock band comprising lead guitarist and vocalist Chad Kroeger, rhythm guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair. During 1995 to 2005, the band underwent various drummer changes.

In 1999, they signed with Roadrunner Records and achieved mainstream success in 2002 with the chart-topping single "How You Remind Me" in the US and Canada. Their album "Silver Side Up" earned an 8× Platinum certification in Canada. The release of their fourth album, "The Long Road," in 2003 led to five hit singles, including the Canadian number one "Someday," which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2005, Nickelback's album "All the Right Reasons" became their best-selling record to date, generating three top-ten and five top-twenty singles on the Billboard Hot 100. Hits like "Photograph," "Far Away," and "Rockstar," particularly successful in the UK, were part of this album. Their sixth album, "Dark Horse" (2008), featured eight singles, including the US top-ten track "Gotta Be Somebody." In 2011, "Here and Now," their seventh album, topped the Canadian charts. Subsequent releases include "No Fixed Address" (2014), "Feed the Machine" (2017), and their tenth album, "Get Rollin'" (2022).

Recognized as one of Canada's most commercially successful rock bands, Nickelback has sold over 50 million albums worldwide. Billboard ranked them the most successful rock group of the 2000s and the seventh-most successful artist overall. Their hit "How You Remind Me" became the best-selling rock song and the fourth-best overall. In 2023, Nickelback was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
