TIO TRAEGER PARK AFL TICKETS 2024

About

TIO Traeger Park is located in Alice Springs, Northern Territory. Named after Alfred Hermann Traeger (and the Territory Insurance Office, who currently hold a naming rights deal), the sports complex was officially opened by Traeger’s daughter, Anna Catherine Smallwood, in 1991. The main stadium in the complex hosts Australian rules football and cricket matches, with its attendance capacity set at 7200. There is also a small baseball stadium that is part of the park! The Central Australian Football League calls Traeger Park it's home, as does the Ngurratjuta Easter Lightning Festival, which takes place there each year.

In 2002 the government of the Northern Territory allocated $4.2 million in funding to a ten-year upgrade of Traeger Park. During that time, the floodlights underwent significant upgrades that brought them up to the standards necessary to allow televised AFL games. A further expected increase in those light levels will enable the ground to reach the standards necessary for broadcasting international cricket.

Pre-season matches for both the Australian Football League and the National Rugby League have taken place at Traeger Park since 2004, with a Regional Challenge Match between the Collingwood Magpies Football Club and the Port Adelaide Power Football Club attracting a crowd of 10,000 patrons, far in excess of the listed attendance capacity. While this might sound excessive, it’s not even the largest crowd Traeger Park has seen. A preseason game between the Adelaide Crows and the West Coast Eagles in 2007 drew in 11,000 fans.

On the 31st of May, 2014, TIO Traeger Park hosted its first-ever premiership match, with the Melbourne Demons taking on Port Adelaide Power. This was the first of many times that the Demons have played a home game at TIO Traeger Park, with the team now doing so at least once a year.

What AFL Tickets Can I Buy For TIO Traeger Park?

There is one AFL game being played at TIO Traeger Park this year, and it’s taking place in Round 16 of the competition. The Melbourne Demons will host the GWS Giants. It’s sure to be an exciting match-up, as it will be far enough into the season for the Melbourne Demons to have either capitalised on their premiership win two years or to have fallen off the boil and need to redeem themselves. It’s safe to say that they will be going hell for leather and trying their best, though. This is a game that no one should want to miss, least of all those Northern Territory locals who have easy access to TIO Traeger Park.
