MARVEL STADIUM AFL TICKETS 2024

About

Marvel Stadium has been known by many names over the course of its twenty-plus year history. When it was being built, it was called Victoria Stadium. When it was completed, it was technically known as Docklands Stadium. The stadium has been covered by commercial naming rights agreements for its entire lifespan, so it’s never really been known as Docklands Stadium! Instead, it’s been known as Colonial Stadium, the Telstra Dome, Etihad Stadium, and now, thanks to a 2019 deal with The Walt Disney Corporation, Marvel Stadium.

Construction began in 1997 and was completed in the year 2000, at the turn of the century. The whole endeavour cost upwards of $450 million. Every penny was put to good use, as the stadium has a convertible ground level seating that can switch from rectangular to oval and back, plus a retractable roof! The stadium is the second largest in Melbourne, after the MCG. It can host 53,000 spectators at a time.

Marvel Stadium is used for all kinds of sports and entertainment events. It was built to accommodate AFL in particular, but the stadium also hosts cricket, soccer, rugby, MMA, WWE, and concert events. The area surrounding the stadium houses the Australian Football League headquarters, as well as the Seven Network’s digital broadcast centre.

What AFL Tickets Can I Buy For Marvel Stadium?

You’d be hard-pressed to find a team that isn’t going to play at Marvel Stadium sometime this year. The venue is second only to the MCG in terms of matches played, and there are five teams in the AFL who have deals that see them playing home games there.

You’ve got St Kilda, who play nine home games at Marvel each year. Headlining this will be the club's 150th anniversary game against Essendon in Round 3.

The Western Bulldogs are in the same boat as St Kilda - nine home games a year, and almost all of them at Marvel since the turn of the millennium. The Bulldogs first home game of the season is always an event not to be missed and a St Kilda clash could open the door for an end-to-end contest.

Other teams that treat Marvel Stadium as home turf include North Melbourne, Essendon, and Carlton, who play ten, eight, and eight games there apiece. The Bombers have a twenty-five year deal with the venue, so you can expect to see them there for a long time to come. Every Victorian team pops at Marvel a couple of times each year, thanks to the forty games that are played there over the course of the season. Have a browse through the tickets on offer and see your favourite team at one of the best stadiums in all of Australia!
