PERTH ASHES CRICKET TICKETS 2025/26
Optus Stadium in Perth will play host to the 1st Ashes test match beginning on November 21 between Australia and England.
The Ashes in Peth
After missing out on hosting a test match in the last Ashes series on Australian Soil in 2021 due to Covid-19 implications, the city of Perth will be eagerly awaiting the return of cricket's greatest rivalry. This will also be the first Ashes Test match played at Optus Stadium, with the 61,266 seated venue posing as a significant upgrade to that of the WACA.
Optus Stadium, located in a convenient position for locals and tourists alike in Burswood, will open the series, and there is always lots of spit and hostility shared in the opening test of an Ashes Series, as adrenaline will be at an all-time high.
Western Australia has not been a place of fortune for the English, with the cricketing nation only recording one Victory out west, which came all the way back in 1978, a time where test matches would last 6 days!
Perth has been at the centre of many memorable ashes' moments, ranging from Mark Waugh leaving his brother Steve stranded on 99 runs as well as Perth local Adam Gilchrist blasting a 57-ball century as the Australians marched onto a series smashing in 2006.
About Optus Stadium
Completed in late 2017 and officially opened on 21 January 2018. The stadium has a capacity of over 60,000 people, making it the third-largest stadium in Australia. The Optus Stadium was voted the most beautiful sports facility in the world by Prix Versailles 2019 International architecture awards. The Optus stadium is the home ground of one of the most beloved BBL teams,
The Perth Scorchers and is very commonly used by The Australian Cricket Team for all formats of the game. Optus Stadium is primarily used for Australian rules football and cricket. Perth's two Australian Football League (AFL) teams – the Fremantle Football Club and the West Coast Eagles – relocated their home games from Subiaco Oval to Perth Stadium, while the Perth Scorchers play their Big Bash League home games at the venue, having previously played at the WACA Ground.
Optus Stadium was selected to be a venue for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in 2020. The first major event at the stadium was an ODI match between Australia and England on 28 January 2018, which England won by 12 runs. Optus Stadium became the 19th venue in Australia to host a One Day International cricket game. The Western Australian Cricket Association later confirmed that the stadium would host its first ever Test match, which began between Australia and India on 14 December 2018.
