Cricket’s most historic rivalry returns to the golden shores of Australia this summer, with Cricket Australia set to host England for the 2021 edition of the Ashes Series.

After retaining the coveted red urn in 2019, England will travel Down Under to face Justin Langer’s Baggy Greens in what is gearing up to be one of the most dramatic Ashes series this century.

Cricket Australia tickets for the 2021 Ashes Series are already on sale for the Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth tests, via The Ticket Merchant, Australia’s most secure secondary ticket marketplace.

And with tickets in high demand for each of the five tests, you’re going to want to purchase your Ashes tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

There are some uncertainties as to how the coronavirus restrictions will impact the series, yet we are certain the tour will still go ahead as planned with minimal disruption.

In light of the logistical issues the coronavirus has presented, some touring players could be absent for the series, with England expected to be away from home for up to three-months.

Jos Buttler was the latest player to express concern over the length of the tour, hinting this week that he could turn down an Ashes call-up to spend more time with his family.

His absence will be a huge blow for the Three Lions, who are teetering on the edge of being without a string of A-grade players for the tour. Some of those names include all-rounder Ben Stokes, fast bowler Jofra Archer, and fresh doubts have been placed over the fitness of seemer, Mark Wood, who suffered a shoulder injury in England’s test match against India last week.

Similarly, things aren’t settled in the Australian camp either. Huge concerns have arisen around Justin Langer’s tenure as the head coach for Australia’s men’s cricket teams. After the Western Australian was appointed as head coach in 2018, reports are now coming in of unrest and tough conversations taking place in the Aussie camp, with some players taking aim at Langer’s abrasive and intense coaching style.

Queensland batsman, Usman Khawaja, has spoken out against these claims this week, notably giving Langer his full backing, despite having fallen out with him in Australia’s Amazon Prime Documentary ‘The Test’ back in 2018, while captain Tim Paine has also sought to rally his troops around Langer, who is still likely to lead the side through the upcoming T20 world cup.

Although these issues have certainly not helped Australia on the pitch of late, losing their recent five-match T20 series to Bangladesh 4-1.

But Australia will fancy their chances against Joe Root’s England side, whose batting line-up is currently in freefall.

Having drawn their first test match against India and subsequently losing the second thanks to a massive batting collapse, Australian bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood will be licking their lips looking at the performances of the English openers, and amidst all the chaos going on behind the scenes, this could be one of the most thrilling Ashes Series yet.

Ashes 2021 fixture dates

Despite the controversy unfolding in both camps, there is a lot to look forward to this summer, with all five fixtures set to be fulfilled across Australia’s main cities.

And there’s even bigger news for Western Australian cricket fans!

For the first time in the tournament’s history, an Ashes test match will be hosted in Perth, with the final deciding test being played at the Western Australian coliseum, the Optus Stadium.

Boasting a 60,000 seat capacity, the Optus Stadium is one of the world’s most modern and, might I say, loudest sporting arenas in the world.

Despite the addition of the Perth test match, the summer cricket schedule will remain largely similar to previous Ashes Series.

The first test will be held at the Gabba on December 8th, and the series will then travel to Adelaide eight days later. We’ll then swoop down south to Melbourne for the infamous Boxing Day Test match at the MCG.

Both teams will then travel north to the Syndey Cricket Ground for the fourth test match on January 4th, 2022, and finally will head west for the inaugural Ashes Test at the Optus Stadium on January 14th.
